Francesco Guidolin thought that we would be afforded more time to change the Swans fortunes and ‘would love’ to return to English football one day.

Francesco Guidolin became the Premier League’s first managerial causality of the season after less than nine months in the role, and spoke to Sky Italy about his thoughts.

After replacing Gary Monk last season Guidolin managed to keep Swansea from the drop, with six wins and two draws from 11 league games, though his heroics last term were not enough to save him this season.

The 61-year-old thought that we would be afforded more time to change the swans fortunes.

“I thought they would give me more time, but unfortunately in our world these kind of things can happen,” he told Sky Italy.

“I wasn’t the first and I certainly won’t be the last to experience this, even if I am somewhat unaccustomed to this situation, as fortunately in my career things usually went well.”

The Italian was handed his P45 during the October international break after a poor run of form which saw his Swansea side only manage a single win from their opening seven games of the campaign.

And with Swansea side languising dangerously close to the relegation zone Huw Jenkins et al decided it was time for the club and Italian to go separate ways.

Despite how things have turned out, Guidolin admitted that he would like to make a return to the Premier League one day.

“Now I am ready for a new adventure. I would love to try again abroad, in England. What happens when you play a Premier League match, it is really beautiful and fascinating.

He added: “I had said no to four, five Italian teams because I felt the need for another experience abroad in addition to the one I had 10 years ago in France. When I got the call from a Premier League club I packed in three seconds and moved.”
