France national football team virus has become a commonly searched phrase after Liverpool man Ibrahima Konate and others were struck down by illness.

The £36m Jürgen Klopp signing was forced to train separately along with the likes of Kingsley Coman and Raphael Varane just days before Sunday’s World Cup final clash with Argentina, as he struggles with the virus.

Didier Deschamps is undoubtedly sweating over the availability of some key players, as he attempts to win France’s third World Cup.

So, what are the details behind the France national football team virus? Let’s take a look…

France national football team virus

Well, many have wondered how so many of the France squad became ill.

England have partially received some blame, with the Guardian speculating that some France players caught the virus during their 2-1 win over the Three Lions in the quarter-final.

Declan Rice missed a few days of training in the buildup to that particular clash with an illness of his own.

However, there have also been complaints about the air conditioning at stadiums, hotels and media centres in Qatar, with a number of players across various nations suffering sore throats and coughs.

Which France players are sick?

As things stand, Coman, Konate and Varane are believed to be carrying the virus, hence why they have been asked to train separately from the rest of the group.

Coman, as well as Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot, missed the 2-0 win over Morocco due to illness, although the latter pair have now rejoined the rest of their teammates in training.

Aurelien Tchouameni and Theo Hernandez also trained separately, although that is because they are suffering with hip and knee injuries respectively, rather than the virus.

Upamecano and Rabiot’s return to training may partly be down to Ousmane Dembele, who revealed that he made the pair “a ginger and honey tea, and then they felt better” – time for Konate, Coman and Varane to try some as well, in that respect.

France football team COVID

It is not believed to be a case of COVID-19 sweeping through the France squad, although Deschamps has brought back measures we all became so accustomed to during the height of the global pandemic.

Social distancing and regular hand washing has been implemented among Les Bleus, as Deschamps aims to stamp out the virus.

Where is World Cup final 2022?

Regardless of what happens with Konate, Varane and Coman, France have a World Cup final to play on Sunday.

Les Bleus will take on Argentina inside the Lusail Stadium, based in Lusail, Qatar.

It is the biggest stadium in Qatar, with a capacity of 88,966.
