Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud played well in France’s 3-2 win over Holland.

France national team boss Didier Deschamps praised Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud following his side’s 3-2 win over Holland at the Amsterdam Arena on Friday, as show in the video published by ePlayer.

The Gunners’ centre-forward headed in to the international break suffering from a loss of form.

The North London club have crashed out of both the FA Cup and the Champions League, while their Premier League campaign has been derailed prompting a huge loss of confidence.

Deschamps, however, feels Giroud’s club form hasn’t affected his ability to perform on the international scene as the former Montpellier man put in a superb showing against Holland on Friday.

“Giroud has had a difficult period with his club. But he’s continued the good form he’s shown for us in previous games. I think he was very useful in the game as offensive support,” Deschamps explained.

“He has a great understanding with the midfield players, especially with the more attack-minded of them. In particular with Dimitri [Payet] and Antoine [Griezmann] in the first-half.”

Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann put Les Blues in-front in the opening ten minutes before Giroud doubled his country’s lead, finishing off from close range after pouncing on a loose ball.

The 29-year-old is a real handful when on form and his ability to link up with his team-mates and draw the opposition out of position is up there with the very best in the Premier League.

However, as a striker, Giroud will always be judged on goals and his tally of 12 strikes in 30 league appearances arguably isn’t enough for what a top player for an elite club must contribute.
