According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea could soon wave goodbye to Denis Zakaria just weeks after they beat Liverpool to his signature.
Denis Zakaria surely regrets snubbing Liverpool
Well, it was Blick who revealed that the Switzerland international had an offer to join Liverpool ahead of the September 1st deadline, but he decided on a move to Chelsea instead.
Now, Jacobs has shared some insight into how Zakaria feels about his choice.
The CBS Sports journalist believes the 25-year-old is “frustrated” at Stamford Bridge, with his situation described as “fragile” under Graham Potter. He adds that there is a “very real chance” that the loan is cut short.
Zakaria is also said to be disappointed by the shock departure of Thomas Tuchel, and is concerned that Chelsea will only add to their midfield options in the January transfer window.
Since moving to west London on loan from Juventus, the Swiss midfielder is yet to make his debut for Chelsea.
Jacobs adds that Zakaria only chose Chelsea because he felt he would get minutes at Stamford Bridge, so you can understand why he feels hard done by.
Liverpool should enquire about Denis Zakaria
If Chelsea and Zakaria really are considering a premature end to the season-long loan, then Liverpool should make another attempt to sign him.
Of course, some may disagree, and would argue that he clearly doesn’t value the Reds having already rejected them.
However, Jürgen Klopp has lost his backup option to Zakaria – Arthur – to injury for the next four months, so he definitely needs at least one more midfielder if Liverpool are to mount a push for the top four and the Champions League.
Keep an eye on this situation, as we wouldn’t be surprised to see Liverpool return for Zakaria if Chelsea do break their loan agreement with Juventus.
