The young Tottenham Hotspur defender is likely to receive a runout in the FA Cup third round.
Although he is very young and inexperienced, Juan Foyth could be forgiven for feeling a little frustrated regarding his lack of game time so far for Tottenham Hotspur.
Since joining the club from Estudiantes for £8million last summer (as reported by the Daily Mail), Foyth has been restricted to just three appearances for Tottenham, while he hasn’t featured in the Premier League, even though the club’s central-defensive resources have been stretched at times.
When Tottenham host AFC Wimbledon on Sunday in the FA Cup third round, Foyth is likely to be given a rare opportunity to impress, and how he fares could have a significant bearing on his short-term future.
If Foyth catches the eye against the League One side then he may convince manager Mauricio Pochettino that he deserves to be part of the squad for the remainder of the campaign, perhaps even in the Premier League.
However, a disappointing display could lead to Foyth spending the second half of the season out on loan.
In truth, heading out on loan would perhaps be the best option for Foyth in any case as it would, hopefully, enable him to play regularly and prepare for being part of the Tottenham squad next season.
It is clear that Foyth is a talented player, but very soon Tottenham could have a decision to make regarding what the next step will be in his development.
