The Tottenham Hotspur defender impressed on his debut this week.

Tottenham Hotspur made a glut of late signings to ensure the summer transfer window was not the disaster some Spurs fans were fearing. But while Serge Aurier, Fernando Llorente and Davinson Sanchez were headline names, Juan Foyth’s arrival was somewhat less exciting…at least at first glance.
The 19-year-old had been tipped for big things, yet he was clearly signed for the future, with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino eager to bed him in slowly.

Foyth’s first appearance in a Tottenham shirt came this week, when he made his debut in the third round of the EFL Cup against Barnsley, and on early evidence Pochettino has another gem on his hands.
What was most noticeable about the teenager’s play was his confidence bringing the ball out from the back and, more often than not, distributing it effectively to a teammate.
That is not easy when you are making your debut at Wembley and yet the Tottenham teenager did it with aplomb.

At times Foyth was left exposed but he dealt with those situations relatively well and he looks set to grow into another exciting centre-back alongside the already impressing Sanchez.
Confidence on the ball is something that is innate rather than a learned skill and once he settles in to his new surroundings, expect Foyth to be pushing for starts in the Premier League, too.
