Tottenham should give 19-year-old defender a chance in the Champions League.
Tottenham Hotspur face Borussia Dortmund away in the Champions League tonight safe in the knowledge that their place in the Last 16 is already secured.
This is still a fixture of some significance for Tottenham as they aim to secure top place in the group but manager Mauricio Pochettino may opt to make some changes to his side and give some of his fringe squad members an opportunity to impress.
One player who falls into that category is Juan Foyth, the talented young centre-back who has so far only featured in the Carabao Cup since joining Tottenham from Estudiantes in August.
Composed in possession and widely tipped for a very bright future, Foyth is being slowly eased into the first-team set-up at Tottenham, with Pochettino perhaps having reservations regarding whether the 19-year-old is capable of performing consistently in the Premier League.
Tottenham could certainly do with some defensive depth, however, especially with Toby Alderweireld having suffered a setback in his recovery from a thigh problem.
The back three were not at their best during Tottenham’s defeat to rivals Arsenal last weekend, and the young Argentine could be introduced to freshen things up, allowing Eric Dier the option to feature in midfield – where the England man prefers to feature.
Should Foyth be given a chance to catch the eye against Dortmund, the youngster may well encourage Pochettino to give him more regular game time and perhaps even consider him to start in some Premier League games.
