The Tottenham Hotspur defender was excellent against AFC Wimbledon.
The FA Cup third round often provides fringe players with first-team opportunities and one player who benefited in that regard at the weekend was Juan Foyth, with the Tottenham Hotspur defender featuring in his side’s 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon.
Although the standard of opposition does have to be taken into account, Foyth still deserves much credit for producing an excellent performance, during which he was resilient at the back as Tottenham kept a clean sheet.

The talented young centre-back has been used sparingly since joining Tottenham from Estudiantes for £8million last summer (as reported by the Daily Mail), but his display against AFC Wimbledon indicated that he should be retained as first-team cover for the remainder of the campaign as opposed to being sent out on loan.
Foyth is composed in possession and dominant in the air, while he is unfazed by having to deal with physical challenges.

As he gains further experience, the 19-year-old will continue to develop and his performance will have given manager Mauricio Pochettino confidence that he could be called upon if needed in the remainder of the campaign.
Foyth will be hoping that Tottenham can enjoy a lengthy cup run this season, which would surely see him receive further playing time.
