Eric Dier promised to see Manchester United’s Ander Herrera soon, he didn’t expect it to be as teammates.

England’s loss to Spain last Autumn was overshadowed by a late row between Eric Dier and Ander Herrera at the final whistle.

Dier, getting into his preferred role as midfield enforcer, made a pointed threat towards the Manchester United ace in his post match BBC interview, promising: “I’ll see him soon.”

Premier League fans were denied the chance to see the pair go head to head, with Dier left on the bench for Tottenham’s visit to Manchester United a month later, a fixture which the England ace was surely eyeing.

Dier’s comments could now be set to take on a very unexpected twist, amid reports Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho wants to bring Dier to Old Trafford.

The Sun claim United are considering spending £40 million on signing Dier, whose versatility allows him to play in both midfield and defence.

Last summer allowing him to leave would have been unfathomable, but he has featured less in his preferred midfield role this season.

Dier and Herrera would have to get on the same page if a deal was pulled off, and the duo would likely be competing for position alongside Paul Pogba in midfield.
