Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has emerged as a January transfer target for West Ham United, but who would be the winners of such a deal?

Joe Hart of West Ham United warms up prior to the Premier League match between West Ham United and Chelsea at London Stadium on December 9, 2017 in London, England.

1. Joe Hart

You can just see it, can’t you? Wilshere and Hart being friends at West Ham. Even their names together sound like a detective drama that airs at 2pm every Sunday on ITV. “Wilshere and Hart, they solve crimes, but can they solve the mysteries of their hearts?”

Both players are such classic “big men” in the English sense that you can see them getting on swimmingly. It’d be a huge bonus for Joe Hart to have a player like Wilshere around, someone who has been through many of the same trials and tribulations as himself. Wilshere would be a friend and ally to Joe Hart.

Mesut Ozil of Arsenal in action during the Premier League match between Arsenal and Manchester United at Emirates Stadium on December 2, 2017 in London, England.

2. Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil’s contract demands are a bit hard for Arsenal to swallow. Not just on their own terms, but because they literally have an alternative to him waiting in the wings.

Jack Wilshere has played Mesut Ozil’s position in the Europa League matches and looked impeccable doing so. He’s been a constant influence on matches both in terms of general play (like Ozil) but also very visibly in the final third (unlike Ozil).

One could see a scenario where Arsene Wenger lets Mesut Ozil leave on a free purely because he has Jack Wilshere doing the same thing. But if Wilshere goes to West Ham? Ozil becomes indispensable.

Javier Hernandez of West Ham United celebrates scoring his sides first goal during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and West Ham United at Selhurst Park on October 28, 2017...

3. Javier Hernandez

Poor Chicharito has really struggled so far for West Ham this season. He has a shot conversion of 21% but has taken just 19 shots on goal. This is largely down to supply; West Ham simply don’t play the kind of football that would furnish him with multiple chances.

Jack Wilshere would change all that, though. With his immense passing quality and ability to pick out through-balls, Wilshere would take command of the West Ham attack and begin feeding passes through to Hernandez, the kind of passes that the Mexican striker should feast on.

4. Social media

Joe Hart playing regularly in East London for West Ham being managed by David Moyes? As we speak memes are being made, jokes formulated. If the deal actually goes through there will be content galore from this.

If the move goes well the jokes will flow at Arsenal’s expense, but if it’s a flop then there is so much fun to be had by poking at David Moyes, Wilshere himself and West Ham in general. Whatever happens, this move is a social media goldmine.
