Newcastle United are surely destined for the Premier League, so perhaps they should start considering potential targets.

With Newcastle looking to be well on course to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, Rafa Benitez may be starting to ever so slightly turn his attention towards potential targets for next season.

With that in mind, here are four names from the French top flight who may perhaps be worth keeping an eye on in case they are available at a very reasonable price in a few months time…

Rachid Ghezzal (Lyon)

According to transfermarkt, Rachid Ghezzal’s contract at Lyon expires at the end of the season. If the Magpies managed to bring him to St James’ Park, it would surely be a major coup for the club given his potential. The winger has scored two and contributed two assists in Ligue 1 this term.

Valentin Eysseric (Nice)

Valentin Eysseric has been brilliant this term, helping Nice go into the international break third in the table. He has also scored twice, but has also added five assists. Like Ghezzal, transfermarkt suggests that the 24-year-old is out of contract this summer so getting him ahead of the peak years of his career would undoubtedly be a major bargain.

Cheikh Ndoye (Angers)

Cheikh Ndoye has arguably been Angers’ best player this season, and once again, transfermarkt suggest that his deal will expire this summer. He has been excellent in the middle of the park, and certainly makes an impact going forward, scoring three and contributing five assists.

Jeremy Menez

Jeremy Menez (Bordeaux)

Perhaps the most ambitious suggested target on this list is Bordeaux striker Jeremy Menez. The forward was fairly lethal for AC Milan, but has struggled since returning to France, scoring just three in 24 games. That return may perhaps tempt the Ligue 1 side to cash in if possible, and if Rafa Benitez sees something in Menez, then he may be the kind of marquee addition that sets the tone for the summer.
