Yaya Sanogo had seven shots at goal, managing just the two efforts on target.
A top striker would have made far better use of the talent behind him and the service provided and tested the opposition goalkeeper with greater regularity.
Not all the blame can however be laid at Sanogo’s door – Ozil, Ramsey, Alexis and Cazorla have some to bear themselves despite their creativity.
The quartet fired 13 shots at goal between them, with only four landing on target – one each.
As well as a new striker, it appears shooting practice may be in order, yet the players were also trying to over-compensate for the lack of a threat up top.
The club have under 24 hours to address their striking situation, and simply hoping it gets better on it’s own is unlikely to be enough.
