Joe Garner was sold by Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha after one season at Ibrox.

Some Rangers fans may wonder if they have been best off keeping Joe Garner at Ibrox.

Sold to Ipswich after just one season in June, the 29-year-old is proving quite a hit down south – scoring four goals and assisting three in 10 Championship appearances.

It’s only three goals shy of his entire Premiership tally for Rangers and already the same number of assists, in what many would argue is a tougher division.

And according to WhoScored.com, Garner is statistically speaking the second best player in it this season, with an average rating of 7.67, behind only Sol Bamba (7.71) of Cardiff City.

Had Alfredo Morelos not hit the ground running as he has done since moving to Rangers – scoring six goals in eight Premiership appearances – questions may been asked about the decision to offload Garner, especially with another Ibrox recruit, Eduardo Herrera, still stuck on one league goal.

Although, whether or not they were right to do so can perhaps only be determined once the season has finished.

Should Rangers have kept Garner? Will Herrera come good?
