There are so many tell-tale signs that it’s set to be a seriously busy summer for Manchester United.
With Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team taking control of the footballing side of operations of the Premier League giants – there’s bound to be some incomings and outgoings in the transfer window.
There have been many players who have overstayed their welcome in Manchester, but Erik ten Hag has not yet pulled the trigger on axing them.
However, this coming window will be different. So, with this – here are five Manchester United players who look destined to leave Old Trafford in the summer.
Anthony Martial

This one is all but confirmed – Anthony Martial will not be in red next season. The injury-prone French forward has not had his contract renewed, meaning he’ll become a free agent at the end of the season.
With such exciting beginnings with Martial’s iconic debut goal against Liverpool, the sad slow decline of the former Monaco man’s career has been sad to watch.
Granted, a ludicrous amount of injury woes have been the catalyst for his downfall – but ‘£50m down the drain’ sang ironically by United fans now seems to be coming to fruition.
Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho may be one of the biggest disappointments in Manchester United’s history. A man they chased for so long, Sancho looked the absolute perfect fit to finally solve their long-standing right-winger issue.
How wrong they were. The £73m man was nothing short of mediocre for the Red Devils ever since his arrival, and after a falling out with Ten Hag in 2023 – he was subsequently sent back on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
This was probably a ploy to get the English winger some game time to raise his price in the summer, but after being disappointing in the Bundesliga – this also looks to have failed. Nevertheless, he looks set to be fully moved on to a potential suitor in the summer.
Donny van de Beek

A similar situation to Sancho’s is that of Donny van de Beek. The Ballon d’Or nominee arrived from Ajax in 2020 with the world at his feet. Fast forward four years – he’s struggling to get game time anywhere he goes.
Unsuccessful loan spells at Everton and now Eintracht Frankfurt show that Donny will never reach his potential at United.
They’ll struggle to get anything for him – but he’ll likely wave goodbye to Manchester this summer.
Raphael Varane

Finally, Raphael Varane will also likely obtain a summer move, but for slightly different reasons. The Frenchman has been an integral part of the side this season, featuring 17 times in the Premier League.
The Frenchman has also expressed interest to stay at Old Trafford, as per the Manchester Evening News, so why will he be exiled? Well, his ludicrous wage bill and his age combined are not a combination of numbers that will excite Ratcliffe.
The Champions League veteran will likely have to find a home elsewhere.
Who else could Manchester United let go?
We’ve listed four – but there also could be many others. Casemiro, Aaron-Wan Bissaka and Christian Eriksen are also named definitely on the chopping block – but realistically they can’t get rid of everyone, as much as they’d maybe like to.
All we’ll say is – strap in United fans, it’s set to be a seriously busy summer of 2024.
