Last month Leeds United were linked by ESPN with a move for forgotten Liverpool striker Danny Ings.
Ings is recovering from two serious knee injuries and is not presently in Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans.
He has had to make do with under-23 football this season as he bids to regain his match sharpness, and he is now rounding into top form.
His last match was significant, and Ings ripped opponents Bristol City apart in a 7-0 Premier League Cup victory.
Ings scored four goals and provided two assists, putting in a dominant performance.
The striker should be standing out against opponents at the level he is playing at, and he certainly delivered in his last encounter.
If he does not get called up by Liverpool now, then it will be a hint that he needs to move on.
Ings will likely get Premier League offers, but the Championship should be appealing too.
Ings scored prolificly for Burnley when last in the division and helped them win promotion.
If he signed for Leeds he would get to take part in a promotion push, which he would surely find more enjoyable and beneficial than turning out for a relegation struggler in the Premier League at a stage of his career where he needs game and confidence.
Leeds may have been wavering over pushing for Ings before with his under-23 performances not necessarily too eye catching.
His latest performance should show the Whites that he is worth pushing for, even if it is just a loan deal they are able to secure.
