Tottenham take on Championship side Middlesbrough at The Riverside for a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday evening. Antonio Conte has got to decide whether to keep his starting XI strong, or make some changes.

Spurs come into the game after returning to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, beating Leeds United 4-0 – after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Burnley at Turf Moor. It saw Leeds decide to sack Marcelo Bielsa.

The London club’s top-four hopes remain in with a shout, but a very small one. Manchester United, Arsenal and West Ham are all ahead – and while United and West Ham have played two more, Arsenal have played one less.

The Gunners are on equal points with Spurs. So, perhaps, Tottenham may find more success in the FA Cup. Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, West Ham, Everton and Liverpool remain in the competition, at this stage.

The changes Conte might make to Tottenham side at Middlesbrough?

Pierluigi Gollini has not done enough to impress and was missing against Leeds – so Hugo Lloris should start. Matt Doherty will want to keep up his momentum on the right. Eric Dier is crucial, but Joe Rodon could come in.

Having that FA Cup know how will be important – Rodon, Dier and Doherty could start. Cristian Romero might be rested after a season full of injuries, Davinson Sanchez coming in. Rodon can play on the left of a back three.

The Wales international did at Swansea City, but he has only started two times under Conte since the arrival of the Italian gaffer. Some Spurs players have been pushing for him to get a chance. Sergio Reguilon might start, too.

Spurs only have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks fit in midfield, so they should both start. Harry Kane has got to play, as he remains the club’s heartbeat. Dejan Kulusevski is impressing, and Lucas Moura has a knock.

So, Kane and Kulusevski should start, but Son Heung-min might be rested – allowing Steven Bergwijn to get a chance. Four changes: in come Sanchez, Reguilon, Rodon and Bergwijn, for Romero, Davies, Sessegnon and Son.
