Ian Wright has talked up Caoimhin Kelleher on Match of the Day 2, which was broadcast by the BBC.
Kelleher came in as Liverpool’s stand in goalkeeper for their game against Wolves and he continued to catch the eye.
The young Irishman has now kept clean sheets in Liverpool’s last two matches.
And Wright feels that Kelleher already looks extremely confident in net for Liverpool, despite his tender years.
“He looks very competent and very, very good. The decisions and saves he is making [are excellent],” Wright said.
“I know Adrian came in for a bit and did a good job, but there’s a confidence about this guy.
“They’ve found another one.”
Kelleher starting yesterday effectively confirmed that he has now been promoted to Liverpool’s number two.
Jurgen Klopp said in midweek that Adrian hadn’t been favoured against Ajax due to Kelleher’s superior ability to the ball at his feet, but there was no such reasoning this time around.
Instead, Klopp simply backed the 22-year-old to keep on performing, and the Liverpool academy graduate repaid his faith.
Kelleher’s strong form reduces the concern around Alisson being out with injury, although the Reds will still hope to have the Brazilian back sooner rather than later.
