Ben Foster has said that he was slightly disappointed by seeing Aaron Ramsdale being handed the Man of the Match award, as he does not want Tottenham Hotspur to feel they had any chance of beating Arsenal during their latest 2-0 defeat.

Quite clearly, Mikel Arteta’s side tormented Antonio Conte and Co. for large parts of the game.

However, the hosts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium did create a couple of big chances, that perhaps could have turned the game on its head.

But despite that, Ben Foster is right in feeling that Tottenham should not fool themselves into believing that they had any chance of defeating Arsenal, despite an Aaron Ramsdale masterclass.

The Englishman was exceptional throughout the contest, making a number of superb saves, including somehow keeping out Ryan Sessegnon from close range in the 2nd half.

Distribution wise as well, the former Sheffield United No.1 did not miss a step.

However, Ben Foster still feels a little gutted about Aaron Ramsdale getting the Man of the Match award against Tottenham.

“I was actually a little bit disappointed that he [Aaron Ramsdale] got Man of the Match and I’ll tell you why. And I don’t mean this in a bad way, because I love Aaron Ramsdale.”

“Yesterday was literally the most perfect goalkeeping performance. Absolutely everything! Balls into the box, he was coming out for, saves, distribution, the whole shebang. He did it all.”

“But I don’t want Tottenham to be going, ‘yeah but your goalie got Man of the Match’ because there’s no Tottenham fan naïve enough in this world, surely to see that game and go, ‘we were good enough to get something from that game’ because they weren’t”, he said on his YouTube channel.

Well, Ben Foster certainly has a point, as a brilliant Aaron Ramsdale display does not mask the fact that Tottenham were clearly second best against Arsenal.
