Ben Foster has said on his YouTube channel that he understands Pep Guardiola’s decision to let Gabriel Jesus leave Manchester City.

Jesus’ critics at Arsenal

Since joining Mikel Arteta’s side in a £45 million (The Athletic) move this summer, the Brazilian international has been widely hailed for having an instant impact on the side.

Jesus’ all-round game in terms of his brilliant hold-up play, astute link-up play and ability to create chances for the others have been recognises as traits that make him the complete forward.

However, the four-time Premier League champion’s lack of killer instinct in front of goal has been criticised by many during his stint at the Emirates Stadium.

In his last 6 Premier League games, the 25-year old has failed to find the back of the net.

Foster pinpoints the Arsenal talisman’s finishing as his biggest flaw

Discussing the Gunners’ latest 2-0 win against Wolves, Ben Foster was critical of Gabriel Jesus’s finishing, going on to say that he understands why Pep Guardiola decided to sanction his sale this summer.

“Gabriel Jesus hasn’t scored in 10 games! He’s not scored in 10 games!”

Foster continued, “Yet, they’re [Arsenal] still winning games comfortably, 2 or 3-0. I love Gabby Jesus, I really, really do. But I think this [his spell at Arsenal] has proven why Pep Guardiola sold him. He’s not an out-and-out goalscorer.”

“He gets chances like you would not believe by the way. Every game he’s getting 2 or 3. Smacked the bar, he had other stuff where his touch wasn’t out of his feet quick enough to get the shot off and I think a clinical striker like Harry Kane, Mo Salah, they get that little chance and it’s perfect touch and bang!”

“And I think Gabby Jesus is just lacking that little bit of clinicality.”

However, Mikel Arteta recently defended his misfiring marksman by suggesting that he has no qualms about his finishing, providing he keeps assisting his teammates, as relayed by Football.London.

If Gabriel Jesus does manage to become a lethal goalscorer one day, it’s safe to say that he could well become one of the most feared strikers in the world.
