Ryan Manning is a huge part of Queens Park Rangers’ future plans – needless to say, they cannot allow him to leave for Crystal Palace or Bournemouth.
Queens Park Rangers are making clear strides to ensure that the future is a little brighter than the present. Ian Holloway’s side may have only secured their Championship survival with one game to spare but at least the club’s crop of highly rated young players give the fans some hope.
19-year-old left-back Jack Williams is the latest Rangers starlet to sign a new deal at Loftus Road since the turn of the year, as reported by West London Sport, joining the likes of Alex Finney, Brandon Adams, Connor Hudnott, Martin Herdman and Ody Alfa in committing their future to the London club.
However, while the aforementioned youngsters are yet to make their mark on the senior side, the same cannot be said of 20-year-old midfielder Ryan Manning.
He was set to be released at the end of the season after failing to impress previous boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink but, since Holloway replaced the Dutchman, Manning has played a major role in the second half of the season.
Making his debut on December 31st, the Galway-born midfielder has now racked up 17 largely impressive Championship appearances.
As a result, The Mirror reports that Premier League pair Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are tracking the left-footed starlet’s progress at Loftus Road.
Palace boss Sam Allardyce could use more precision and creativity in central midfield and Manning, blessed with an eye for a pass, could act as a young understudy to Yohan Cabaye. And Bournemouth, renowned for their passing football, would nurture Manning’s natural technical ability.
Therefore, although Manning only signed a deal until 2019 in January, as reported by the BBC, that may count for little if Premier League clubs come calling with a substantial summer bid.
Although if QPR are planning for the future with young players taking on added importance, they must stand firm and keep hold of their prized asset.
