Former West Ham United goalkeeper and fans’ favourite Jimmy Walker has delivered his verdict on Adrian after he came in for criticism.

Joe Hart of Mancheater City shouts instructions during the Carabao Cup quarter final match between Arsenal and West Ham United at Emirates Stadium on December 19, 2017 in London, England.

West Ham signed Joe Hart on an expensive loan from Manchester City in the summer and he was instantly installed as the club’s first choice goalkeeper.

The England stopper has failed to shine for the Hammers, though, and came in for criticism as part of a side which made West Ham’s worst ever start to a Premier League season.

Hart lost his place when he was ineligible to play against his parent side Manchester City and Adrian produced a man of the match display on his return to the side.

He has been David Moyes’ number one ever since but has had a few wobbles in the last couple of months which have proved costly.

Adrian of West Ham United gives a thumbs up during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Everton at London Stadium on April 22, 2017 in Stratford, England.

Adrian came in for criticism from supporters, pundits and even Moyes himself for his shaky display in the 4-1 defeat to Swansea City last time out, making it eight goals he had conceded in two games.

That has led to calls from some quarters for Hart to be reinstated.

But Adrian has an ally in former Hammers goalkeeper and fans’ favourite Jimmy Walker.

Taking to Twitter Walker defended the Spaniard over his role in the first goal West Ham conceded which Moyes said afterwards he “would expect the goalkeeper to save.”

“Slow mo geeza!,” Walker said on Twitter in reference to television replays not doing the goalkeeper any favours.

David Moyes, Manager of West Ham United looks dejected during the Premier League match between Swansea City and West Ham United at Liberty Stadium on March 3, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

“To be fair though (it was) round the back of players and seeing it late is tough.

“Sometimes (you) get fingers on it, sometimes (you) don’t #gklife #gkunion.”
