Sunderland are on the hunt for their seventh permanent manager in four years following the sacking of Simon Grayson after the 3-3 draw with Bolton Wanderers.
The result actually moved the Black Cats one place up in the Championship table, but they remain in the relegation zone with just ten points from their opening 15 matches.

Skybet have a number of well known names on their list of potential successors for Grayson, but could 16/1 Paul Lambert be their best choice in what is undoubtedly a tricky situation?
Avoiding relegation has to be the target for the Wearside club now as they try and stop the slide that saw them finish bottom of the Premier League last season and has continued into 2017/18.
Lambert has a good recent track record when it comes to this, taking Wolverhampton Wanderers from 19th to 15th last term and keeping struggling Blackburn Rovers in the second tier the year before – 12 months later they did go down.

The 48-year-old even battled against the odds to keep Aston Villa in the top flight for three seasons, with the Birmingham outfit also getting relegated a year after he left.
On the flip side of things, Lambert has taken Norwich City out of the division as he sealed successive promotion with the Canaries in 2010 and 2011.
Things are looking bleak at the Stadium of Light currently, but perhaps an experienced head with knowledge of the league and what it takes to stay in it would be the best choice right now.
