Former Spurs ace Modric scored as Croatia beat World Cup front runners 3-0 on Thursday night.

Former Tottenham Hotspur trio Peter Crouch, Jonathan Woodgate and Jermaine Jenas have lauded their former teammate Luka Modric on social media after his fine display for Croatia against Argentina at the World Cup.
The Croatians produced a shock 3-0 win over Jorge Sampaoli’s side, booking their place in the last 16 and leaving Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain’s side with it all to do to qualify.

Modric was the heartbeat of the side during the victory in Russia, as he stood head and shoulders above anyone throughout the entire 90 minutes – even scoring an excellent long-range effort which was Croatia’s second.

Ante Rebic and Ivan Rakitic also scored, but it was Modric that took the plaudits. His masterclass sent Twitter and Instagram into a frenzy, and Jenas, Woodgate and Crouch all reacted to his display.
Modric, 32, turned out for Spurs for four years between 2008 and 2012, totalling 160 appearances for the north Londoners in which he scored 17 goals and laid on 27 assists before leaving for current side Real Madrid.
Following four Champions League triumphs and one La Liga medal, Modric is renowned as one of the best midfielders in the world and his display against Argentina will only strengthen such a claim.
Croatia sit at the top of Group D on six, while Argentina and Iceland are on one. Nigeria are on zero, but they face Iceland on Friday in what is a crucial match for the future of Argentina in this summer’s tournament.
