Newcastle United are the latest club linked with a move for the Fulham star, who was a rival of Yedlin at Tottenham Hotspur.

Newcastle United are the latest club to be credited with interest in Fulham’s former Tottenham Hotspur right-back Ryan Fredericks, as reported by the Chronicle.

Allegedly wanted by, among others, Crystal Palace and Everton after helping Fulham back to the Premier League this season, Fredericks would cost United a grand sum of nothing should they win the race to sign him, after reaching the end of his contract.

And while the Londoner has expressed a desire to remain in the capital after the Cottagers’ promotion, it is claimed that he is weighing up his options in the event that his current employers’ offer proves unacceptable.

Newcastle are said to want to bring in more competition in Fredericks’ position, where an old rival of the Tottenham academy product has established himself as first choice over the past two campaigns – allegedly delighting the Magpies in doing so.

It was the arrival of that man, DeAndre Yeldin, which effectively ended Fredericks’ Spurs career, prompting the latter’s permanent departure to Bristol City six months later, in August 2015.

And while the 25-year-old should probably thank Yedlin for kick-starting his career, a part of him may be attracted by the idea of trying to oust the American at Newcastle.

Would Fulham’s former Tottenham right-back be a good addition for Newcastle United?
