Former Spurs and Belgian striker Nico Claesen sat down for an interview with Belgian media outlet Voetbal Krant, and shared some advice for highly-rated Anderlecht youngster Youri Tielemans, with regards to the best move he could make for his career, and more specifically, which country he should avoid.

The 19-year-old midfielder is one of the most highly sought-after players in European football, with a whole host of the games most prestigious clubs thought to be fighting it out to win the race for his signature, including Tottenham, according to the Daily Mail.

But Claesen, who scored 18 goals for Spurs during a two year spell at White Hart Lane in the 80’s, believes a move to England would not suit Tieleman’s game, and explained how he should avoid a switch to a top tier Premier League side, when speaking to Voetbal Krant:

“In England he would have to start from scratch and learn to fight. So if I was him I would not go to the very top [level of the league].”

Mauricio Pochettino has been renowned for signing young players with huge potential, and bringing the best out of them, during his short time in football management.

And should Tielemans make the move to White Hart Lane, surely the Argentine would be able to coax the best out of the 19-year-old, irrelevant of what Claesen believes.
