Tottenham Hotspur have shown that they find it extremely difficult to cope without Harry Kane.

Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily at 11:51 am on Wednesday February 22nd, former Spurs boss Gerry Francis expressed his bewilderment that Mauricio Pochettino included Harry Kane in his side to play Fulham on Sunday, despite the Argentine’s decision eventually being vindicated with the 23-year-old bagging himself a hat-trick and avoiding injury.
The England international striker has scored 19 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham so far this term, and has proven to be a major driving force behind their impressive displays.
They currently sit in third position in the Premier League table, albeit a distant 10 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and are still very much alive in the FA Cup and the Europa League.
Their chances of success in all three competitions will depend heavily on their ability to keep Kane fit, however.
And Francis, who spent three years in charge at White Hart Lane during the mid-90’s, explained how important the striker is to Pochettino’s side, when speaking to Sky Sports, whilst highlighting his bemusement at Kane’s inclusion in the Spurs’ side who won at Fulham on Sunday:

“Talking about Harry Kane, he has been carrying a bit of a knock. I was surprised to see him play at Fulham. Obviously he came away with a hat-trick, but the difficult situation is that they are not blessed with [able back-ups], Janssen is not in the same class as Kane. He would be a big miss for Tottenham.”
And with vital games ahead of them against Gent in the Europa League, followed by Premier League matches against Stoke City and Everton respectively, Kane will need to be at his very best if Tottenham are to remain actively involved in all competitions both domestically and on the continent.
