Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar is not impressed with Steven Gerrard’s decision to leave Liverpool.
Ex-England international midfielder Gerrard announced on Friday that he will depart the Reds at the end of the season when his current contract runs out.
The 34-year-old has been at Liverpool his entire career and is considered as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.
Gerrard has stayed with Liverpool through thick and thin, but Lord Sugar claims that the Reds captain’s decision to leave the Merseyside outfit is motivated by financial reasons.
Lord Sugar’s comments about Gerrard not showing loyalty are too much to digest. For someone who has given his all for a club, the ex-England star deserves respect.
Perhaps Gerrard is going to get more money if he joins an MLS outfit, but that does not take away anything from the fact that he has been a loyal servant to Liverpool throughout his career.
