Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Serge Aurier.

Aurier is a controversial figure but he is one who comes with the backing of former Tottenham boss Jacques Santini.
Santini managed the North London club briefly in 2004 and is a big fan of Aurier, promising he would go onto have a great career.

The former France international boss told Le10Sport two years ago: “My little protégé, Serge Aurier, of course! I knew him at Lens and I had promised him a great career, which he is doing.
“He made the right choice to go to a club like Toulouse to make his name, Then, in Paris, he could only progress and stabilise.”

Aurier is only 24 but he has already been capped more than 40 times by Ivory Coast and starred at one World Cup.
The right-back has played in the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain and won two Ligue 1 titles and three Coupe de France trophies.
Now Tottenham will hope to have secured a winner’s mentality along with a talented footballer if he can seal his switch to the Premier League.
Aurier’s transfer is dependent on his overturning a conviction for assault in France, which will be required in order for him to gain a work permit.
