Will Liverpool’s James Milner be displacing England’s Tottenham left-back Danny Rose any time soon?

Impatience with Alberto Moreno has led to Liverpool persisting with playing James Milner at left-back this season.

The former Premier League winner is a consummate professional and able to play in a number of positions, but his quick adaptation to left-back has stunned many.

Against Stoke City last night he was excellent once again, and his performance had television pundit and presenter Richard Keys purring, arguing that Milner might already be the best player in his position in the Premier League.

A number of specialist left-backs would be able to dispute Keys’ assertion, but the one who has the best case is England’s first choice, Danny Rose of Tottenham Hotspur.

Rose has been in terrific form this season and recently netted a winner for the club in their win over Burnley.

Keys’ point was admonished by former Tottenham star Graham Roberts, who responded via Twitter to remind him about Rose.

The two players next go head to head on February 11, when Tottenham visit Anfield.

Milner’s Liverpool currently sit in second place in the Premier League, seven points ahead of fifth placed Spurs who have a game in hand.
