The young midfielder burst onto the scene with Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Michael Dawson during his Tottenham days
Former Spurs star Michael Dawson sat down for an interview with the club’s official website, and shared his belief that Harry Winks owes Mauricio Pochettino a big thank you for being given the opportunity to showcase his ability in the first-team this season.
Dawson, who currently plays for Hull City, spent nine years at White Hart Lane, and made 324 appearances for Tottenham, although he left before the Argentine took over at the helm.
And the 33-year-old has been mightily impressed with Winks this season.
He told TottenhamHotspur.com how the 21-year-old should be extremely grateful to his manager for being given the chance to express himself this term:
Tottenham’s Harry Winks in action
“Harry Winks did well again and he’s done brilliantly to break through this season. Full credit to him. I’m sure he’ll say a massive thanks to the manager for giving him that opportunity at such a young age.”
Winks has played his part in Spurs’ impressive campaign so far this term, making 31 appearances in all competitions – something that is quite an achievement when the strength of Tottenham’s midfield is considered.
He has showcased his wonderful ability on the ball every time he has taken to the pitch, and his emergence serves as further evidence of the bright future ahead for Spurs as a football club.
