One of Jake Hastie’s former teammates has urged fans to forgive the Rangers winger after he returned to Motherwell on loan.
Hastie quit the Fir Park club for Rangers a year ago, but has failed to make a breakthrough at Ibrox.
A temporary spell at Rotherham United was cut short in January, and the 21-year-old will now spend the 2020-21 season back at the club whose academy he progressed through.
But Hastie’s decision to quit for Rangers left a bitter taste in the mouths of some Well supporters.
And his return to Lanarkshire has already been greeted with displeasure.
But Peter Hartley, the captain Motherwell released last month, believes that is unfair.
Posting on Twitter earlier, Hartley wrote:
The English centre-back was a colleague of Hastie for two years at Motherwell.
Rangers currently employ Ianis Hagi, Ryan Kent, Brandon Barker, Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart, Glenn Middleton and Jamie Murphy in Hastie’s position.

But some of those could be allowed to leave Steven Gerrard’s side in the coming weeks and months.
