Luka Vuskovic team-mates discussed the prospect of the Hajduk Split star joining Arsenal or Manchester City but Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur are now expected to win a £9 million race instead.

According to Fabrizio Romano, one of Europe’s most exciting teenage defenders only has eyes for Tottenham Hotspur, despite interest from bonafide continental powerhouses Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and co.

And anyone who tuned into Sunday’s enthralling North London derby should have quickly figured out why. There is a real feel-good factor around the place these days – a novel atmosphere after the energy-sapping eras of Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho – and, in Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have a coach any player will relish playing under.

Straight-talking and compelling, yet boasting ambitions higher than Ayers Rock.

Tottenham Hotspur win Luka Vuskovic race

Romano claimed on Monday that Luka Vuskovic to Tottenham is a ‘done deal’. And while the teenager will not arrive in North London until he turns 18 in 2025, it’s tempting to wonder where Spurs will be after two full seasons with Postecoglou at the helm.

“At youth level, (Hajduk Split) work very well and truly have many great talents. There are many really strong young player,” Marco Fasotti, who now plays in Romania with FC Universitatea Cluj, tells Tuttomercatoweb.

“Hajduk, for example, particularly impressed me with Luka Vuskovic. A 16-year-old central defender.

“Last season, with us in the final month, he was a regular starter. So much so that very big clubs moved for him. I remember that we were talking about Manchester City, Arsenal, Milan and Juventus, but he could probably go to Tottenham (now).

“Physically he’s strong. He has a good pass, great personality. Vuskovic is a really good player. Very good.”

‘A really good player’

Vuskovic, the youngest goalscorer in Hajduk Split’s history, has already travelled to England with Sportske Novosti reporting that a £9 million announcement is imminent.
