Tottenham Hotspur have made huge strides over the past two-and-a-half years.

Former Spurs star Wilson Palacios sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and lavished praise upon Mauricio Pochettino, suggesting that the Argentine has changed Tottenham’s image, and how they are perceived.

The Lilywhites are currently sitting in second position in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and with seven games still to be played, the title race is very much on.

Pochettino was appointed as manager at White Hart Lane in the summer of 2014, and had totally transformed Spurs into perennial title contenders, during his short time in charge of the club.

And Palacios, who made 87 appearances for the North London outfit, told TottenhamHotspur.com how impressed he has been with his former club, highlighting his disappointment when they failed to win the league last season:

“Pochettino has given Tottenham a good image. Last year they were really good, really close to being champions and I was watching, screaming because I really, really wanted them to become champions! This season, they are doing just as well and they can get really far. The team now understands each other better than before because for two or three years they’ve been playing with largely the same players. Even the younger players, the boys from the youth system, have been very impressive when they’ve been playing.”

Pochettino’s men could find themselves even closer to Antonio Conte’s side after this Easter weekend.

Chelsea face a tricky trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, whilst Tottenham play host to Bournemouth, and if they can close the gap to four or five points, then they will believe that anything is possible this season.
