Chris O’Grady’s goal settled the most recent meeting between Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, in February 2012.

Then a Wednesday player, second-half O’Grady’s header moved the Owls to within two points of their second-placed city rivals, who had two games in hand.

But in the end it was Wednesday who followed Charlton Athletic into the Championship, leaving United to try their luck in the play-offs, where they lost to Huddersfield Town on penalties.

Dejection for players of Sheffield United during the npower League One, playoff final between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United at Wembley Stadium on May 26, 2012 in London, England.

O’Grady, though, would only last six more months at Hillsborough, after new boss Dave Jones banished him to Barnsley on loan, before a permanent transfer to Oakwell in the summer of 2013.

Little more than a year after that O’Grady was back in the Steel City, spending a month on loan at Sheffield United from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Yet despite his affiliation with both clubs, the now Chesterfield striker has made no secret of his allegiance ahead of Sunday’s big game.

“If Wednesday can play to their potential on Sunday, they will get the result,” O’Grady told the Yorkshire Post. “But it’s just a case which individual can get the best out of themselves on the day, for each team.

“I have got to say Wednesday to win, they mean a hell of a lot to me.

“It will be good to watch, and hopefully there will be a similar result as last time.

“I am looking forward to watching the game on TV with my children.”

But he is by no means anti-Blades, stating: “United are on an even keel now, while Wednesday have got financial backing behind them. It’s good times for the city, both clubs doing well, and it’s good to see.”

What else can we expect to see/hear when Sheffield Wednesday host Sheffield United on Sunday?
