Leeds went head-to-head with Reading in the Championship yesterday.

Leeds United picked up an impressive win in the Championship last night, defeating their promotion rivals Reading at Elland Road to maintain their position in the play-off places.

It was a brilliant performance from a Leeds side struggling with injury problems and one man who again epitomised everything to do with this Leeds team was Swedish central defender Pontus Jansson.

The Torino loanee has been a superstar for Leeds since joining the club and his performance against Reading was typically impressive.

One man who was thoroughly impressed was former Reading assistant manager Kevin Dillon. Speaking on BBC Radio Berkshire he suggested he was the type of player Reading boss Jaap Stam would want at the Madejski Stadium – comparing the Leeds star to Stam during his playing days:

“I’m watching Jansson – he cleared it off the line, put his fists in the air and screamed towards the fans, before the game was over.

“Then he screamed again once it was full time, ran right over.

“Stam was watching – I bet he was looking, thinking, that’s the type of player I want. That’s what he was like as a player.”

Jansson has certainly made himself an almost instant cult hit at Elland Road with his performances and positive attitude toward the club.

Leeds have an option to buy him after 20 games, one they intend on taking up in January – so hands off is the message to Reading.

But, given how quickly Jansson has adopted the Leeds fans to his heart, it is unlikely he would want to go anywhere else right now anyway.
