Former Glasgow Rangers youngster Grant Nelson has joined a Scottish Premiership rival after leaving Ibrox in the summer.

Former Rangers youngster Grant Nelson will be hoping to show that the Gers were wrong to let him go in the summer, and it now appears that he may have a fantastic opportunity to prove exactly that.

Dundee announced ahead of their reserve game with Dunfermline on Tuesday that the midfielder has joined the club on a short-term deal and would be starting the clash, and he will be hoping that he can contribute as Neil McCann’s men look to recover from their dreadful start in the Scottish Premiership.

Unfortunately, the former Rangers man’s debut was one to forget as Dunfermline ran out 5-0 winners, with their final two goals coming from the spot on a terrible afternoon for Nelson’s new club.

Of course, the defeat will quickly be forgotten about if they can build upon the first-team’s first league win of the season which came at the weekend against Hamilton.

It is not clear just yet how long Nelson’s current deal is expected to run, but he would be forgiven for looking at the fixture list and earmarking Rangers’ visit to Dens Park in early December as one game he hopes to be in contention for.

Rangers are looking incredibly strong in the middle of the park this season, but perhaps Nelson may have his eye on putting in the kind of performance against Steven Gerrard’s men that not only leaves the Gers wondering whether they were wrong to let him go but also ensures that Dundee want to extend his contract.
