Rangers may not have expected Ciaran Dickson to turn up at Celtic, but they may now be fearing the midfielder becoming a star at Parkhead.

The Gers appeared to have high hopes for Dickson, who had been emerging through the Ibrox youth ranks.

After being named on the bench for a Europa League game against Benfica last season, Dickson was then handed his senior debut just days later against Falkirk.

Steven Gerrard’s eye for a midfielder had seemingly given Rangers a star of the future, but things have taken a real turn.

Rangers released Dickson over the summer, and after interest from Burnley and Gillingham, the teenager made the most controversial move of all.

Dickson chose to sign for Rangers’ bitter rivals Celtic, and he has made quite the start to life at Parkhead.

Dickson scored a long-range goal for Celtic B against Morton last weekend, and followed that up with another goal on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old scored in a 2-0 Celtic B win over Gala Fairydean Rovers as he begins to show that he can be a goalscoring midfielder in green and white.

This really wasn’t how Rangers will have envisioned Dickson’s career going a year ago, as he looked primed for a Rangers breakthrough.

Now playing in green and white, Dickson will have hopes of playing against Rangers at senior level down the line – and after scoring again for Celtic B, who can rule that out?
