Former Rangers striker Umar Sadiq has refused to be drawn on his future with Spanish LaLiga2 side Almeria amid reports linking the Nigerian with a move to Sevilla or Bayern Munich
The Ibrox failure, who had a disastrous loan stint in Glasgow that saw his move from Roma cut short after a string of woeful performances, has confounded his critics since leaving Rangers.
An impressive spell at Partizan Belgrade saw him win a move to Spain with Almeria, where he’s continued to catch the eye despite his side missing out on promotion to La Liga.
Reports have linked him with a move to Sevilla or Bayern but the lanky Nigerian insists that he wants to “remain cool” and enjoy his summer while his club deals with any transfers.
“Regarding me joining another club, I don’t want to discuss it,” Sadiq told Radio Marca Almeria.
“I just want to remain cool and enjoy the break while my manager takes care of that.”
Former Rangers man won’t be cheap
Despite missing out on promotion, the ex-Rangers man has a €60million (£52m) release fee so Almeria don’t have to sell on the cheap – although it’s unlikely he would cost anything close to that amount.
With four more years on his contract at Almeria, he may have little option but to stay where he is and try win promotion all over again next season.
Either way, Rangers fans will still be amazed that he’s managed to carve out a career in football – never mind be linked with clubs like Bayern Munich.
