Released from Ibrox by Mark Warburton in the summer, the Rangers old boy is hoping they can get a big win.

Former Rangers midfielder Nicky Law has been commenting on the upcoming Old Firm derby. Rangers take on Celtic in the League Cup semi-final tomorrow, hoping to perform better than they did in a 5-1 loss to the Bhoys earlier this season.

Law spent three years at Ibrox and worked under Mark Warburton in his final season at the club. He helped Rangers beat Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final last season – scoring the winning penalty in the game.

However, upon Rangers’ promotion to the Scottish Premiership, it was decided Law would not be handed a new contract at Ibrox and he was released by Warburton – joining Bradford City this summer.

But he has not forgotten his Glasgow allegiances and told TV Yorkshire this week he was hoping for a big win for Rangers:

“Celtic this year from last year are a completely different outfit. The way they played in that home game, they looked brilliant.

“Brendan Rodgers has done a good job there and they play good football there now as well.

“It will be difficult for Rangers but that 5-1, I think Rangers are in a bit better form going into this one.

“They won’t go into it with any fear. They’ll approach it like any game, I doubt they’ll change their game. Hopefully they’ll trounce Celtic this time.”

The Gers go into the game certainly looking in better form than they did prior to the 5-1 thrashing at Parkhead earlier in the season.

Rangers fans will be hoping that their boys can get the better of Celtic this time around and Law will be cheering his old team-mates on from Yorkshire.
