The former Rangers midfielder and Steven Gerrard teammate was speaking ahead of Thursday’s Europa League qualifier at Ibrox.
Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam has told BT Sport that returning to Ibrox would be a ‘wonderful option’.
Adam, who recently entered the final year of his Stoke City contract, began his professional career at Rangers and played alongside new Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard at Liverpool.
When asked about a potential reunion with Gerrard, the Scot said: “Listen it’s a situation that I don’t know what is going to happen.
“I have had a chat with the club at Stoke. We know the situation that we are in.
“We will see and take it from there.
“There’s always an option (for me) – it’s Rangers.
“It’s a big club, I enjoyed my time here when I was young and I had a great time here.
“You can never rule it out. To return to a club like this would be a wonderful option for me.
“But at the moment I am contracted to Stoke and I am working hard in pre-season to try and force my way into the team.”
Rangers have already been linked with a move for another former Ibrox midfielder in Steven Davis this summer.
However, that part of Gerrard’s team is beginning to look congested after the signings of Scott Arfield, Ovie Ejaria and Lassana Coulibaly since the Liverpudlian’s arrival.
Adam played 76 times for Rangers between 2003 and 2009, contributing 25 goals or assists before leaving for Blackpool.
Now 32, the former Scotland international transferred to Liverpool for £9 million two years later before moving on to Stoke after only one season at Anfield.
