Rangers should consider trying to bring Emerson Hyndman back to Ibrox.

Six months have passed since Emerson Hyndman’s spell at Rangers ended, and the American is back at square one.

The attacking midfielder had hoped that his loan at the Gers would propel him to a first team spot at Bournemouth, but instead he finds himself stuck on the sidelines.

Hyndman, 21, has not made a single Premier League appearance for the Cherries this season.

Rangers could do with him back, as their team does not have enough game changers, and midfielders Niko Kranjcar and Jordan Rossiter have yet to step up or show they can stay fit.

Hyndman has big hopes, telling how he wants to emulate Spanish World Cup winner Cesc Fabregas.

He told the Daily Echo: “Cesc Fabregas was one. He wasn’t the biggest guy, and at the time I really related to that. I was quite small for my age and he had the captain’s armband at Arsenal when he was young, so he was one player I sought to be. He was the difference-maker in that team.

“Later on, Luka Modric and the way he impacted Tottenham. There have been quite a few, but I think Fabregas is probably the one.”

Bournemouth are not giving him a chance to do that, and Rangers should take a strong look at trying to bring him back and see if he can fulfil his potential.

Hyndman scored four goals and provided four assists in 17 appearances for the Gers last season.

There is still a strong case for Rangers to try and bring him back, and at this point it is surely best for Hyndman’s development to return to a club where he has recently got game time under his belt.
