Motherwell are set to bring former Rangers keeper Liam Kelly back to Fir Park on a permanent basis, according to a report, after he impressed on loan from QPR last season.
The shot-stopper lifted Motherwell’s Players’ Player of the Year award after his loan move and the Scottish Sun report that he’ll sign on in the coming days.
Kelly, who has also played for Livingston, moved south to be reunited with former Rangers manager Mark Warburton at QPR but has lost his place in the side to Seny Diang.
After impressing Well boss Graham Alexander, Kelly’s move back to Scotland comes just in time for the start of the Premier Sports Cup next weekend.
Queens Park Rangers move never really worked for Kelly
After moving to QPR, Kelly initially impressed but after losing his place in the side, the writing looked on the wall for him in London.
The chance to return to Scotland with Motherwell is one Kelly grabbed with both hands and the former Rangers keeper will be hoping he can force his way back into the Scotland set up.
Dundee United had also reportedly been chasing a move for Kelly but the chance to return to Motherwell after his impressive stint at Fir Park makes sense.
