Ex-Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson wants McGinn at Ibrox.

Barry Ferguson has said he wants John McGinn at Rangers, but there looks to be little chance of the Hibernian star heading to Ibrox.
Former Rangers captain Ferguson told STV’s Peter and Roughie’s Football Show ahead of the Gers’ win at Hibs on Wednesday that he is disappointed his old side are ‘not even showing an interest’ in McGinn – a reported target for Celtic and Nottingham Forest.

But even if Rangers were to, what chance would they have? Hibernian boss Neil Lennon told STV earlier this year that McGinn is worth ‘a lot more’ than the £5 million quoted by some media outlets – which is money Rangers simply don’t have to spend on one single player, while there are few in Graeme Murty’s squad whose sales could cover such an outlay.
Besides, would a boy whose grandfather, Jack McGinn, is a former Celtic chairman, really sign for the Bhoys’ most bitter rivals? It’s extremely unlikely.

Even if they did have the money, and McGinn was to have a liking for Rangers, politics would probably put paid to that anyway. You may recall that Hibs refused to sell Scott Allan to Ibrox when his beloved Gers came calling in 2015, instead sanctioning a move to Celtic of all clubs.
And tensions between the pair have only worsened in the meantime.
This one, Barry, is surely impossible.
