After ten years at Anfield following his arrival from Dutch side Williem II in 2009, the Finnish legend joined Leverkusen at the age of 35.

In the twilight of his career, Hyypia only spent two seasons at the BayArena before calling time on his career.

The ten-time Finland Footballer of the Year made 60 appearances for Bayer across his two campaigns at the club.

During his decade with the red half of Merseyside, the 105-time former Finland international won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, two Super Cups, two FA Cups and two League Cups.

Hyypia spent 41 games in charge of the Bayer first-team during the 2013-14 campaign.

The former Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur joined Leverkusen on loan for the remainder of the 2011-12 campaign in January 2012.

The Croatian made eight appearances for Leverkusen from which he registered two assists.

After retiring last summer, the 103-time Croatia international is currently the assistant manager of the national side.

After four years at Stamford Bridge which brought five trophies as a Chelsea player, the box-to-box former Germany international returned to the BayArena for two seasons before retiring in 2012.

In his first stint with Leverkusen, Ballack scored 23 goals and laid on 13 assists from 50 appearances in his final season at the club, which included a run to the Champions League final, before joining fierce rivals Bayern Munich.

Ballack, who finished his international career with 42 goals from 98 caps, won eight trophies during his four seasons with the Bavarian giants.

Having spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Real Madrid, it was clear that the ‘Little Pea’ didn’t form part of Louis van Gaal’s plans at Old Trafford.

Mexico’s all-time top scorer joined Leverkusen on the last day of the summer transfer window in 2015 and he spent two seasons with Neverkusen before returning to the Premier League with West Ham United.

Hernandez finished his Leverkusen career averaging an impressive goal in every other game with 39 strikes from 76 outings.

Following six months with Sevilla, the man who dazzled under Sir Alex Ferguson joined LA Galaxy in January 2020 and the 34-year-old has remained with the MLS side ever since.

The Birmingham-born man and Premier League winner with the Foxes joined Leverkusen in January last year.

But the former England Under-21 international only spent six months in Germany before returning to England with Everton after being signed by Rafael Benitez.

From 12 matches for Leverkusen, the 26-year-old scored one goal and provided two assists.

Hudson-Odoi will be hoping to hit lift off in Germany in a way that Gray could not.
