Former player thinks Newcastle United should sign Jadon Sancho

Warren Barton has stated on Twitter that Newcastle United should sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

The former Newcastle defender made the suggestion while responding to a question whether the Magpies should sign the former Manchester City prospect.

Sancho is one of the best young players in Europe and has been superb for Dortmund since he joined them after leaving City.

According to WhoScored, the England international winger has scored 14 goals and provided 15 assists in the Bundesliga, and has scored two goals and provided two assists in the Champions League for Dortmund so far this season.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the 20-year-old winger scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in the league, and scored one goal and provided one assist in the Champions League, according to WhoScored.

Unlikely summer transfer

While Barton would like Newcastle to sign Sancho, it is hard to see the winger make the move to St. James’ Park this summer.

Perhaps in the coming years, if Newcastle establish themselves as force in Europe under the prospective new owners, then the St. James’ Park faithful could see Sancho turn out for their team.
