The Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur strikers will be battling it out for the Premier League’s Golden Boot this season.

Former Premier League striker, and now respected pundit Dion Dublin told talkSPORT this morning that Manchester United new-boy Romelu Lukaku is still not quite at the level of Spurs hitman Harry Kane.

The 24-year-old completed his move to Old Trafford from Everton earlier this week, for a fee that could reach an enormous £90 million, dependent on a variety of performance-related clauses, according to the Telegraph.

Dublin though, who scored 111 Premier League goals during his career, told talkSPORT how Lukaku still has some work to do if he is to match Kane’s levels:

“As a centre-forward, I don’t think there’s a box he (Lukaku) doesn’t tick. Harry Kane, for me, ticks every single box. Lukaku is maybe just half a notch off Harry Kane. I believe Lukaku is the biggest prospect in the Premier League, and can get better – a lot better.”

Kane has scored 78 Premier League goals in 113 outings for Tottenham, whilst Lukaku has bagged 85 in 186 outings in the top flight.

Both players are similar in age, with just two months separating the pair, and their rivalry will surely go on to be something that defines the next decade in the Premier League.

The Lilywhites did not have to pay a single penny for Kane, which just goes to show the value in investing in premium youth academy setups.

If Lukaku goes on to fire United to the title though, it will look look like £90 million well spent by Jose Mourinho.
