Isaac Assenso has struggled for playing time at Scunthorpe United.
This summer Leeds United released talented youngster Isaac Assenso, which certainly came as a surprise to some.
At the start of last season, then academy chief Neil Redfearn was high in his praise for the combative midfielder – who can also play at centre-back.
He told the club’s official website in August last year, after Assenso had starred in a youth game against Ipswich Town:
“Isaac Assenso, who was a second half substitute, was our best player and his dominance in midfield went a long way to our good second half display.”
However Assenso must not have developed over the season in the way Leeds would have liked.
In the summer, after a successful trial spell, Assenso signed on with Scunthorpe United on a free transfer.
He signed a one-year deal at Glanford Park in June but has so far had little impact at the Lincolnshire club.
He has not yet made the bench for the club and has therefore hit the road. He is on the move again, joining up with Scarborough Athletic. The phoenix club of former football league side Scarborough they currently play in National Premier League Division One North, the eighth-tier of English football and Assenso will be at the club for at least one month.
Time will tell if this former Neil Redfearn favourite makes it in football post-Leeds.
