Ex-Liverpool striker Fabio Borini comments on Champions League tie.
Former Liverpool striker Fabio Borini admits he is hoping Roma beat his old team in the Champions League semi-finals.
Liverpool beat Roma 5-2 in the first leg at Anfield and face a nervous second leg in Rome next week.
Borini feels Roma are capable of overturning the deficit, and need a 3-0 win to go through to the final on away goals.
The current AC Milan striker says he is keen that Roma win, for the good of Italian football.
He told Tuttomercatoweb: “If we look at how it went with Barcelona, I hope so. It would be nice, as an Italian, to see the Giallorossi go forward.”
Borini added: “In the two previous rounds Roma have already come back. The two final goals have made the return playable and credible.”
An Italian team have not won the Champions League since Inter Milan’s shock triumph in 2010.
Juventus made the final last season but lost 4-1 to Real Madrid.
The winner of the Liverpool and Roma tie will face either Real or Bayern Munich.
