Liverpool striker Danny Ings has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Former Liverpool striker and current Crystal Palace star Christian Benteke has taken to Twitter to offer a message of support for former teammate Danny Ings, after the Reds marksman was ruled out for up to nine months with a knee injury.

The former Burnley man was ruled out for the majority of last season with an ACL injury, and the desperately unlucky 24-year-old’s future at Anfield now looks to be uncertain to say the least after his latest setback.

Benteke took to his official Twitter account this morning to offer words of encouragement for Ings, who suffered the season-ending injury during a brief appearance against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup last week:

Since making the move to Anfield in the summer of 2015, Ings has managed just five starts for Liverpool, and it is unclear whether he is a player who Jürgen Klopp sees as part of his plans, having been brought in to the club by previous manager Brendan Rodgers.

The endless messages of support will not make this latest setback any easier to swallow for Ings, who must be devastated at the prospect of facing another season on the sidelines looking on.
