League Cup holders Manchester United crashed out of the Carabao Cup away to Championship side Bristol City this evening.

The Robins upset the Red Devils 2-1 thanks to a late winner, and become the only non-Premier League side to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

It was a galling defeat for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, but others saw the funny side.

Former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva took glee in United’s loss, and took to Twitter to laugh at their defeat.

Lucas spent 10 years at Anfield before moving to Lazio this summer.

He was a League Cup winner with the Reds in 2012, his only trophy during his decade with the Reds.

Liverpool exited this years’ competition two rounds earlier with a defeat away to Leicester City.
